Enthalpy + Entropy ---> Solutions
So in the case of
1. MgSo4 in H20 the solution formation = -91 kj/mol (exothermic)
2. NH4NO3 in H20 the solution formation = +26 kj/mol (endothermic)
[size=medium]According to my professor both are solutions. Now what i don't understand is, how can I be able to tell if both not only one is a solution. Because I know that exothermic reactions tend to be solutions. But in the case of a endothermic solution, how is this possib

Question about entropy
So from my understanding entropy must increase and ΔS = Q/T with the exception where a system can have entropy decrease. But if system 1 gives energy to system 2 and the entropy of 1 decreases, why is system's 2 increase bigger than system 1?

Help solving from change in entropy
So I am trying to solve a problem two different ways, and both ways get very different answers. One is right, one isn't. But I don't understand why one way works, and the other doesn't. Shouldn't they just get the same answer?
So here is the problem:

Enthalpy and Entropy Question
I want to start by saying that I've spent the last few days trying to understand thermodynamics, and the whole subject is making me crazy. I'll be truly indebted to anyone that can help shed light on this problem.
First, the basics:
ΔS(universe) = ΔS(surroundings) + ΔS(system)

Entropy and Gibbs Free Energy
Hello guys,
I have a few conceptual questions regarding entropy. I've learned that S = Q / T, and that entropy is zero at absolute zero; however, if the temperature were zero in the above equation, wouldn't S equal infinity? How do chemists consolidate these opposing facts?

I have seen different notations used in different places for entropy change - specifically:

ΔSreaction
It sounds an obvious question (and I just wanted to double check!) but I can only think these are the same thing or am I missing something in the small print?!

Entropy vs. Enthalpy Acid Strength
Hello Chem forum, I have a question regarding entropy and enthalpy and is the most important to determining acid strength. Now I understand that both enthalpy and entropy can both be used to determine if an acid is stronger than another, but i'm not sure which is more important. Could someone help me out?
